"The Terrace"
Beautiful and suggestive work by the well-known French painter and engraver, depicting a scene on a terrace (the terrace of Villa Brancas, as specified in the descriptive sheet of a similar specimen in the collection of the British Museum in London), with a painter portraying a gentlewoman (a member of the Brancas family?); original etching, measuring approximately 30 x 42.5 cm (the entire sheet, with uneven white margins), approximately 25x35 cm the figured part only, also corresponding to the impression of the printing plate; work signed on the plate, lower right, and dated 1876; printed by Salmon, for L'Art.
