Sepia pastel (or sanguine pencil) drawing by Paolo Vetri (1855-1937), signed lower right. Datable between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Dimensions: 24x17 cm (image, excluding passepartout and frame). Original mounting and framing. Vetri, a student of Domenico Morelli, was a professor at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. He executed mural decorations in fresco and paintings in numerous churches in Ragusa, Molfetta, Naples, Cosenza, Amalfi. "...infrequent signature, from the contained easel production,...excellent drawings, especially of figures, in sanguine, pen and charcoal, generally faces and portraits very close...to the Morellian sign...."
